After baggage, ticket and passport procedures, we depart for Basel at 12:10 on SunExpress Airlines flight XQ 912. Upon arrival in Basel at 13:25 local time, our vehicle waiting for us in the area begins our Basel city tour. Basel, the third most populous city in Switzerland after Zurich and Geneva, is a magnificent city that combines both modern and historical textures; although small in area, it holds many treasures within. During our city tour in this city, notable places to visit include Basel Cathedral, where the tomb of the famous Renaissance writer Dutch Erasmus is located, the city's main square Marktplatz, the Government Building, and Hotel Les Trois Roi. After our tour, we proceed to Strasbourg. While exploring Strasbourg, one of France's most beautiful cities and the pearl of the Alsace region, you will feel as if you are traveling through history in Europe's largest cobblestone medieval quarter. With its nature and historical structures reminiscent of fairy tales, wooden houses, medieval churches, cathedrals, and numerous works of art, it is a place well worth seeing. Additionally, Strasbourg holds historical importance as the place where the French national anthem "La Marseillaise" was written, appearing as a city where French architecture blends with Alsatian culture. Also, during our city tour, notable places to visit include Strasbourg Cathedral, Rohan Palace, Kleber Square, and the Petit France district adorned with traditional Alsatian houses. After our tour, we transfer to our hotel. Overnight at our hotel in Strasbourg or its surroundings.
Day 2: Strasbourg – Eguisheim – Colmar – Kaysersberg – Riquewihr – Strasbourg
After the breakfast served at the hotel, guests who wish may join the additional tour "Magnificent Fairy Tale Villages of Alsace (Eguisheim & Colmar & Kaysersberg & Riquewihr)" for an extra fee (110 Euro). In 2013, Eguisheim was awarded the title of "Favorite French Village"; it is a village where history and nature dance together. Its colorful houses, reflecting the typical architecture of the Alsace region, create Eguisheim's postcard-perfect appearance. After our tour, we head to Colmar, famous for its medieval historic buildings, Gothic-style churches, and vibrant houses. While strolling through Colmar's well-preserved streets, you will see the St. Martin Cathedral built entirely from pink stone, Petite Venise with its small canals reminiscent of Venice, Italy, Maison Pfister one of Colmar's oldest houses, and Maison des Têtes, a Renaissance building adorned with faces. Our third stop on the tour is Kaysersberg. Kaysersberg is a charming part of the Alsace region, a town dating back to the Middle Ages. It is renowned for its colorful houses, narrow streets, and historic character. Especially notable is the Château de Kaysersberg castle, which dates back to the 13th century and is one of the town's most iconic landmarks. Located in the city center, Sainte-Croix Church stands out with its Gothic architecture. After our tour, we proceed to our final destination, Riquewihr, one of the most enchanting cities in Alsace, known for its numerous half-timbered houses that give the town its charm. This historic village captivates visitors with its old houses decorated with colorful flowers, narrow streets, and a medieval atmosphere enclosed by ramparts. During our tour, we will also see the ruins of Riquewihr Castle and walk along the village's ancient walls to experience the medieval ambiance. After the tour, we transfer to our hotel in Strasbourg.
